Salmon

King Salmon

Rods:  King Salmon are typically caught with spinning gear capable of holding 25-30lb test line. Kings can also be caught on the fly with 8 1/2-9ft, 10wt rods with sinking tip lines.

Tackle:  Spin n' glow drift rigs, kwick fish (K13-K16), Magnum Wiggle Warts, Vibrax (#5-#6).            Flies:  Bunny Flies, Egg Sucking Leach, Strip Leaches, Popsicle patterns.

All Other Salmon

Rods:  Smaller Salmon (Silver, Chum, Red, and Pink) require 8 1/2-9ft 8wt fly rods or spinning rods capable of handling 10-15lb test line.

Tackle:  Vibrax (#3-#4), Mepps (#3-#4), Pixies, Salmon Eggs.  Flies:  Egg Sucking Leach, Bunny Flies, Egg Patterns, Pink Polly Wogs, Spankers, Strip Leaches.

 

Trout

Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Grayling

Rods:  8 1/2-10ft, 6-7wt fly rods. Spinning rods capable of holding at least 6lb test line.

Tackle:  Small spinners (#0-#2), Small Spoons, Scroungers.  Flies:  Bunny Leaches, Flesh patterns, Egg patterns, Beads, Wolly Buggers, Sculpines. 

 

Other Equiptment
Waders:  Neoprean or breathable chest waders are the best but hip waders will do in most cases.

Warm clothes:  Weather can change quickly, so dress in layers.  Bing something to keep the rain off of you just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Camera, sunglasses, sun screen, snacks, drinking water, fishing license, king stamp, and a cooler to bring your catch home in.
